Attorney General Jeff Landry Statement on St. Joseph Administrator

BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement after the court hearing appointing a fiscal administrator for the town of St. Joseph:

“After a lengthy review of legal options and numerous discussions with the Governor’s Office, we agreed that a fiscal administration would be appropriate in this matter. After a hearing before the Fiscal Review Committee, there was a unanimous vote authorizing our office to petition the court for a fiscal administration of the town. We appointed special assistants from the Governor’s legal staff to advance this petition which was so vital to the residents of St. Joseph. Today, the town has officially agreed to the appointment of a fiscal administrator. We are thankful for the input of the citizens of St. Joseph; without their diligence and efforts, this result could not have happened. We believe that the new administrator will improve the town's financial practices and will take the steps necessary to help the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of St. Joseph.”
