Attorney General Jeff Landry Makes Six Arrests in Child Exploitation Sweep

BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry today announced the arrests of six Louisiana men on over 200 counts of child pornography and exploitation.

“Since taking office last year, our team has made and/or assisted in over 100 child exploitation arrests,” said AG Landry. “We are committed to ensuring child predators are taken off our streets; and my office will continue working tirelessly to bring these perpetrators to justice.”

Andrew McDonald, 24 of Dry Prong – a registered sex offender for a prior sex offense with a juvenile, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for 105 counts of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children (under the age of 13), and 30 counts of Possession of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children. He was arrested and booked into the Grant Parish Jail as a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, Louisiana State Police, Probation and Parole, Dry Prong City Police, and the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Trey LeCompte, 31 of Marrero, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for one count of Attempted Production of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children, one count of Indecent Behavior, and one count of Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor. He was arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Jail as a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Micah Sorbet, 33 of Carencro, was arrested on two counts of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children, three counts of Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor, and three counts of Indecent Behavior with Juveniles. He was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center as a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Homeland Security, the Ponca City Police Department (Oklahoma), and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office (Kentucky).

Gilbert Breaux, 73 of Carencro, was arrested on five counts of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children (under the age of 13). He was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center as a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Carencro Police Department, and the Lafayette Police Department.

Ian Butler, 19 of Hahnville, was arrested on 50 counts of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children. He was arrested and booked into the St. Charles Parish Jail as a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Manwell, 18 of Ethel, was arrested on 20 counts of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children. He was arrested and booked into the East Feliciana Parish Prison as a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit and Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Louisiana State Police, and the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office.
