BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry returned home energized from the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Winter meeting, which was held in our Nation’s Capital over the past few days.
“I am thankful for the opportunities I had to meet with President Trump and Attorney General Sessions again to discuss topics affecting Louisiana,” said General Landry. “I am proud of the leadership we have in the White House and their dedication to public safety and the rule of law.”
“Attorney General Sessions is a proven leader with experience as a U.S. Army Reserve JAG Captain, federal prosecutor, state Attorney General, and former member of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee,” said General Landry. “His proven record and unwavering commitment to protecting our families and making our communities safer will make Louisiana an even better place.”
While in Washington this week, General Landry also attended President Trump’s address to Congress. “I am encouraged by President Trump’s plans to tackle illegal immigration and end sanctuary cities,” added General Landry. “We raised this concern in Louisiana last year, and unfortunately politics by the Governor and his allies stalled legislation to rid our State of sanctuary policies. But I am optimistic that this public safety threat will finally be addressed in Baton Rouge and in Washington.”
General Landry serves as the Vice President of NAAG, a position he was elected to by his fellow Attorneys General. "Serving in this position has proven to be a tremendous asset for the people of Louisiana," concluded General Landry. "It has not only given us a bigger platform to work on key issues, but it has also given us the opportunity to be have even more substantive meetings with leadership.”
