BATON ROUGE, LA - Attorney General Jeff Landry today announced the
arrest of a New Orleans woman for practicing dentistry without a license,
providing services to illegal immigrants.
“When there are unlicensed people posing as professionals,
it violates the public’s trust,” said General Landry. “There are too many
hard-working people in our State to let criminals affect their professions.”
Nancy Brown, 51 of Harris, Texas, was charged with
Practicing Dentistry or Dental Hygiene without a License and the Dispensing and
Possession of Legend Drugs. She was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish
Prison following an investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation
(LBI) where it was discovered that Brown was operating a fraudulent practice in
an apartment on Iberville Street. Brown, a naturalized citizen from Honduras,
was allegedly catering her underground practice to illegal immigrants in the
New Orleans area.
"Unfortunately, illegal immigration creates an
underground illegal economy ranging from human trafficking to professional
occupation fraud", said General Landry. “Our office will remain
diligent in investigating those who blatantly break the law.”
Last month, General Landry's LBI arrested Brittany Bridges, 30
of New Orleans, for practicing dentistry without a license. She was arrested
and booked as a fugitive from New Orleans after she allegedly falsely
represented herself as a dentist, advertising her services on social
media.
