Attorney General Jeff Landry's Office to Host 2018 LifeSmarts Louisiana Competition

BATON ROUGE, LA—Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced the annual 2018 LifeSmarts Louisiana Competition, which will be held at his office on March 9. This event is a free, consumer education quiz bowl that will test students on five topics: personal finances, health and safety, the environment, technology, and consumer rights and responsibilities.

“My office is proud to host LifeSmarts Louisiana state championship and we encourage students to sign up to participate,” said Attorney General Jeff Landry. “It is important for students to test their skills and ensure they understand the topics discussed in order to prepare themselves for life after high school.”

This year celebrates 24 years that LifeSmarts has been offering this educational opportunity to 6th-12th grade students. The LifeSmarts competition is meant to prepare students to enter the real world as smart and educated young adults. LifeSmarts stays up to date in the information discussed and meets national educational standards.  Free online material is provided and the competition for students starts online. The highest scoring teams in Louisiana are then invited to General Landry’s office for the state championship.

Online registration closes on February 16 and paperwork is due by February 23. For more information or to register for this year’s competition, teams may go to http://lifesmarts.org/state-competitions/louisiana/ or call Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Office at 225-326-6400.
