BATON ROUGE, LA – The Louisiana Department of Justice’s Criminal Director Brandon Fremin last night was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana.

“I congratulate Brandon Fremin on his Senate confirmation as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana,” said General Landry. “The LADOJ’s loss is the Middle District’s gain as I am confident that Brandon will remain a dedicated, fair, and honest public servant in pursuit of justice.”

“A law and order leader with decades of experience in upholding the oath to protect our civil liberties while keeping our communities safe, Brandon has made public service his life mission,” added General Landry. “Brandon has led division operations, managed hundreds of prosecutors and support staffers, and done so with distinction; President Trump once again made an outstanding selection in Brandon.”

“My office and I are extremely thankful for Brandon’s service to our State, and we look forward to maintaining strong federal partnerships with Brandon leading the Middle District,” concluded General Landry. “I wish Brandon success as he continues to help make Louisiana an even better place to live, work, and raise our families.”

In November, Fremin was nominated by President Donald Trump - a move that General Landry called “a grand slam homerun.” Last week, the Senate Judiciary committee reported Fremin favorably out of committee.

In January 2016, Fremin was hired to serve as the Criminal Director for General Landry’s office after 11 years in the 19th Judicial District Court’s District Attorney Office as an investigator and a prosecutor. Fremin previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana, where he prosecuted drug trafficking, crimes of violence, and immigration matters. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Fremin earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in Criminal Justice and a law degree from the Louisiana State University Law Center.
