BATON ROUGE, LA - An illegal
immigrant practicing dentistry without a license in Jefferson Parish has been
arrested by Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Office.
Salomon Kattan, 59 in Kenner on an expired visa, was
charged with one count of Performing Dentistry without a License and two counts
of Sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription.
Through an investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, it was
discovered that Kattan was performing dentistry for other illegal aliens out of
his home.
“Unlicensed dentists not only illegally profit from
their schemes by exploiting people, but they also very often jeopardize the
health and safety of their victims,” said General Landry. “Taking these
deceitful and dangerous people off our streets will certainly make our
communities safer.”
Kattan booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional
Center, and he is under a Homeland Security Investigations detainer. He is the
latest arrest by General Landry’s Office for the alleged crime. Last year, General Landry's office
arrested two others for practicing dentistry without a license.
