AG Jeff Landry to host contest empowering young people
across State and Nation to develop skills needed to be successful in an
increasingly complex marketplace
BATON ROUGE, LA – The 2019 LifeSmarts Louisiana Competition
– a free, consumer education quiz bowl – will be held in Baton Rouge on
February 15, announced Attorney General Jeff Landry today.
“From fraud to energy, nutrition to banking, and privacy to
security – our State’s future will be faced with numerous issues of which they
must grasp a solid knowledge,” said General Landry. “So my office and I are
proud to host an avenue that may help achieve that goal.”
LifeSmarts meets national educational standards and provides
free online materials which compliment any high school curriculum and can be
used as a learning activity for classes, groups, clubs, and community
organizations. In order to participate in the state finals, the teams composed
of 4-5 students and their adult sponsor or coach must advance through
preliminary rounds online.
Teams may register and compete online at www.lifesmarts.org from now until February
1. At the end of the online competition, the teams will be invited to compete
at the state competition set for February 15 at the AG’s Office in Baton Rouge.
The winning state team will advance to the National LifeSmarts Championship,
scheduled for April 13-16, in Orlando.
“I encourage students and their teachers to form teams and
sign up today,” added General Landry. “And I look forward to seeing if our
reigning champs at Acadiana High can earn another title.”
For more information or to register for the competition,
teams may go to www.lifesmarts.org or
