Sex Offender Arrested in Terrebonne on Internet Crimes Against Children

BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter today announced the arrest of a convicted sex offender on child exploitation charges.

“Child pornography is a dreadful crime that inflicts lifelong damage to the victims,” said General Landry. “So I applaud my office and our law enforcement partners for finding and arresting the despicable people who possess, distribute, and produce these horrific sexual abuse images and videos.”

Joseph Delbert Verdin, 55 of Dulac, was arrested on 3 counts of possessing pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 years old. The arrest was a result of a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO), and Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Verdin was booked into Terrebonne Parish Jail, where he was additionally charged by the TPSO for failing to register as a sex offender.

“It angers me that we have people in our community who would possess this type of material,” said Sheriff Larpenter. “I am proud of our detectives and personnel from other agencies who worked hard to see that his person is off the streets and away from our children.”
