Commercial Co-Ventures

In conducting charitable sales promotions, a for-profit business must obtain the written consent of the charity for whom it is raising money and, in its advertising, disclose at least a reasonable, estimated amount or percentage that will go to the charity. The business must provide a copy of a final accounting to the charity on whose behalf the promotion was conducted within 10 days of its completion and provide a copy to the Office of the Attorney General after the department requests it. Lastly, the business must keep a final accounting for three years following the completion of the promotion. Commercial Co-Ventures do not have to register with the Louisiana Attorney General's Office. For further information the law can be found at La. R.S.51:1901.2.
