Attorney General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit arrests Lafayette man for sex crimes against children

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit arrested a Lafayette man for sex crimes against children on July 18, 2024.

The suspect, 23-year-old Jaylen Jonte Mouton, of Brookwood Circle in Lafayette, was arrested for violating:

1. 2 Count(s) of 14:81.1-- Pornography Involving Juveniles - Production -- (Felony)

2. 4 Count(s) of 14:81-- Indecent Behavior With Juveniles -- (Felony)

3. 2 Count(s) of 14:80-- Carnal Knowledge Of A Juvenile -- (Felony) 

The investigation began after our agents initially got a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.

This arrest was a result of a joint investigation with General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office. 

Mouton was located in Lafayette Parish and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive from Vermillion Parish (where the crimes occurred). He then was transported and booked into the Vermilion Correctional Center on the charges mentioned above.

The investigation is ongoing.
