Attorney General Liz Murrill secures conviction of vehicular homicide for drunk driver

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Criminal Division secured a conviction for Heather De Los Santos (DOB: 3/17/1987) on a charge of vehicular homicide on Tuesday, February 20.

De Los Santos pled guilty in the Tenth Judicial District Court located in Natchitoches.

De Los Santos was the driver of a vehicle which caused a traffic incident resulting in a collision with a motorcyclist back on April 4, 2021.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that she was operating the vehicle while over the legal limit. Ultimately the motorcyclist died from injuries sustained during the collision.

De Los Santos was sentenced yesterday to the Louisiana Department of Corrections.

This is a culmination of the work of the Louisiana Department of Justice and the Natchitoches City Police Department.

“My office continues to support victims and their families. If you drink and drive, you will be held accountable,” said Attorney General Liz Murrill.
