53-year-old Eddie Barnes, of E. Blanchard Street in Opelousas, was arrested 10/6/2026 on the following charges:

• 53 counts-LA R.S.14:81.1E(5)(a) Child sexual abuse materials under the age of thirteen (13)

• 28 counts-LA R.S.14:81.1 Child sexual abuse materials 

  
  

As part of an investigation into multiple tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Eddie Barnes was determined to have utilized the application Kik to possess and share numerous images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

This arrest was the result of a joint investigation involving the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Opelousas Police Department, and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. 

Barnes was booked at the St. Landry Parish Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
